LEŚNE PSZCZOŁY W POLSKIEJ HERALDYCE

Jeszcze do niedawna władze samorządowe gmin nie przejawiały zaintereso-wania heraldyką. Dopiero ustawodawstwo ostatnich dziesięcioleci regulujące ich uprawnienia i działalność sprawiło, że mogą one ustanawiać symbole gminy, a za-razem mają obowiązek ujmowania ich wzoru w statutach zarządzanych jednostek. W Polsce jest prawie dwa i pół tysiąca gmin – wiejskich i miejsko-wiejskich i miejskich, ale w ich gronie jest zaledwie dwanaście jednostek, które legitymują się herbem z symboliką pszczelarską. W większości przypadków projektanci ich godeł nawiązali do dawnych tradycji pszczelarskich. Pośród tej grupy są dwie gminy, w których herbach obecność pszczół wiąże się z dawnym bartnictwem w Puszczy Kurpiowskiej. Na tle działalności gospodarczej żyjących w puszczy dawnych osadników, którzy za zgodą jej prawowitych właścicieli prowadzili działalność gospodarczą, autor (z zawodu leśnik i pszczelarz w jednej osobie) opisuje w artykule dzieje obszaru, z którego wyłoniono obie współczesne gmi-ny. W takim kontekście wskazuje na życie dawnych mieszkańców Puszczy Kur-piowskiej, ich zwyczaje i kulturę oraz na mentalność i świat wartości dzisiejszych mieszkańców obu gmin, a tym samym na źródła symboliki opisywanych herbów.

FOREST BEES IN POLISH HERALDRY
S u m m a r y
Until recently, the local government authorities of communes had not shown much interest in heraldry. It is only the legislation of recent decades, regulating their rights and activities, that allowed them to establish the symbols of the com-mune, and at the same time have the obligation to include their design in the statutes of the managed entities. There are almost two and a half thousand communes in Poland – rural, ur-ban-rural, and urban, but there are only twelve that have a coat of arms with beekeeping symbolism. In most cases, the designers of their emblem refer to the old beekeeping traditions. Among this group are two communes, whose coats of arms present bees associated with the former tree-beekeeping in the Kurpiowska Forest. Against the background of the economic activities of former settlers liv-ing in the forest, who with the consent of its rightful owners ran their businesses, the author (by occupation a forester and a beekeeper) describes in this article the history of the area from which modern communes were established. In this context, the author portrays the life of the former residents of the Kurpiowska Forest, their customs and culture, the mentality and the world of values of today’s residents of both communes, and thus the source of symbolism of the described coats of arms.
